I found this old publication of a Jazz magazine on the Behance network. I think it's a good design because it makes good use of two colours plus stock and it would be cheap to print. The layouts are different on each page like how a jazz scat record would be really different throughout changing the sounds, speed and rhythm like a solo, it does however still keep to a grid so it doesn't get sloppy or untidy
Looking through http://magculture.com/blog/?p=11823#more-11823 I found an interesting example of and editorial publication which would be considered to be a look book as it has little or no type and body copy.
(extract from http://magculture.com/blog/?p=11757#more-11757 about the following publication)
‘Why Am I Here?’ asks the cover of the latest edition of YCN’s magazine Ideas Illustrated. The answer is two-fold; first, the magazine serves to promote their excellent roster of illustrators, with plenty of space given over to showing off their talents. And second the question is linked to the issue theme, Relocation, and the distribution strategy they’ve adopted to reflect it. As well being mailed to clients and other interested parties, YCN have arranged for copies to turn up in unexpected places: restaurants and hairdressers for instance.
